La Bottega del Fabbro si è da sempre dedicata alla realizzazione di opere artigianali, a volte più semplici, altre complesse e ricercate, ma tutte, comunque, create dalle idee e la manualità di persone consacrate al loro mestiere.
Ultimamente un membro dell’azienda ha scelto di dedicarsi al suo lavoro realizzando delle vere opere d’Arte.
Il “Martello” è la prima delle realizzazioni che Sebastiano Pelli, questo il nome dell’artista, ha prodotto e che ha deciso di donare al Comune di Colle di Val d’Elsa… ed è stata proprio un’azione d’urto, di nome e di fatto.
Il “Martello” è nato dall’interesse di Sebastiano verso la gigantografia degli oggetti comuni; un rimando alla POP ART, corrente artistica che si è sviluppata nella seconda metà del XX secolo e che deriva dalla parola “Popular Art”, ovvero arte popolare.
La rappresentazione di oggetti comuni in scala suscita, infatti, interesse e meraviglia nel fruitore, ma soprattutto nell’artista, che, in questo caso, ha deciso di raffigurare uno degli utensili che maggiormente utilizza sul lavoro.
Ed è proprio il lavoro artigiano, di cui il martello ne è simbolo, che l’artista ha voluto onorare con la sua iniziativa, per porre un “colpo” in un momento storico sensibile come questo, dove il lavoro è diventato qualcosa di inarrivabile o fatiscente.
L’opera è stata realizzata con lamiere di scarto saldate insieme “Dot by Dot”. Una scelta, questa, dell’artista per donare ancora più valore alla manualità.
Lui stesso afferma: “Sarebbe stato molto più semplice far realizzare uno stampo per la testa e utilizzare un singolo tubolare come manico, ma non sarebbero emersi il gran lavoro ed il divertimento che ho impiegato nella scomposizione delle parti e nel successivo ri-assemblaggio di esse. La tecnica che ho scelto per il “Martello” e che ho fatto mia per le successive opere, vuole risaltare la saldatura per renderla parte integrante del prodotto e per sottolineare la sacralità del lavoro artigiano”.

Lately, a member of the company chose to devote himself to his work creating artworks.
The “Hammer” is the first realization that Sebastiano Pelli, this is the name of the artist, produced and donated to the town of Colle di Val d’Elsa … and it was just a shock action, in name and in fact.
The “Hammer” is born from the interest of Sebastiano towards the enlargment of common objects; a reference to POP ART, artistic movement that developed in the second half of the 20th century and derives from the word “Popular Art”.
Indeed the representation of common enlargment objects arouses interest and wonder in the user but especially in the artist which, in this case, he decided to portray one of the tools that most uses at work.
With this initiative the artist wanted to honor the craftmanship, of which the hammer is the symbol, to put a “hit” in a historical moment as sensitive as this, where the work has become something unavailable or crumbling.
The work was created with scrap sheets welded together “Dot by Dot”. This is a choice of the artist to give even more value to manual skills.
He says: “It would have been much easier to make a mold for the head and use a single tubular like handle, but would not emerge the great work and the fun that I used in the decomposition of the parties and in the reassemble of these. The technique I chose for the “Hammer” and for the subsequent works, wants to highlight the welding to make it an integral part of the product and to emphasize the sacrality of the handicraft”.
